Where can I watch the 2022 FIFA World Cup for free?

FOX Sports

FOX Sports (FOX and FS1) is the official channel to watch the 2022 World Cup ever since they bought the exclusive English-language rights to broadcast it in the United States. The good news is that FOX Sports is free to download—but it can be tricky to watch. If you have a digital antenna, you should have free access to FOX Sports. If you don’t have one, you can buy TV antennas on Amazon for about $20. Other than that, FOX Sports must be accessed with a paid TV provider, but you might already have access to some of these popular providers via a subscription or if you share an account with a family member or friend.

If you have access to any of the following TV providers (which aren’t free), you should be able to stream the World Cup through FOX Sports:

  • Astound Broadband
  • DirecTV or DirecTV Stream
  • Dish
  • Fubo TV
  • Hulu + Live TV
  • Sling Blue or Sling Blue + Orange
  • Spectrum
  • Verizon Fios TV
  • Vidgo
  • YouTube TV

Tubi TV

The World Cup will be on Tubi TV for free to be streamed on-demand, but only after the games are finished. If you go the Tubi route you can still watch the games, just not live, since FOX Sports owns the live rights. It’s still good news, though, for those who live in the West coast since most games will be during 2 A.M. and 5 A.M., anyway.

Tubi TV is available for download for free on Android, iOS, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xfinity X1, Xbox, Samsung Smart TVs, Sony Smart TVs, Playstation, or on their website.

Watch the World Cup in Spanish

Peacock will be streaming all 64 matches of the World Cup live in Spanish. Peacock will not be streaming in English. The first 12 matches will be free for subscribers, but the rest of the 52 games will only be available for Peacock Premium subscribers.

NBC Universo (or just Universo) will also be streaming the World Cup in Spanish. If you already have access to DirecTV Stream, Fubo TV, Hulu + Live TV, Philo, Sling TV, or YouTube TV, you should already have access to NBC Universo and be able to watch the World Cup in Spanish.

Like Fox Sports, Telemundo is a broadcast network, so you can broadcast it for free over the air in most areas. Telemundo Deportes will be the exclusive Spanish-language broadcaster of the World Cup in the United States. Fifty-six of the games will be on Telemundo, and eight in Universo because of conflicting game kick-off times. If you pick up the Telemundo signal from your local affiliate stations with your digital antenna, you’ll be able to catch most of the matches for free.

If you have access to these paid TV providers, you’ll also have access to Telemundo: DirecTV Stream, Hulu + Live TV, fuboTV, and YouTube TV. Remember that many of these TV providers offer 30-day free trials, which you can get to watch all the 64 World Cup matches.
