10. K Will

K Will was born as Kim Hyung-soo on December 30, 1981. He is a Korean ballad singer, vocal coach, dancer, songwriter, composer, actor and DJ at 107.7 SBS Power FM using his real name as dj.

He first became known in South Korea through his single “Dream” for “A Love To Kill” OST, released in 2006. After a year his single and 5 years after as a trainee and a vocal coach, he released his first album “Left Heart” in 2007. Then, after two years, he came back with a successful single, “Love 119,” in December 2008. This was followed by a mini album “Dropping the Tears” in April 2009 and his second album “Miss, Miss and Miss” in November 2009.

K.Will has a great deal of collaborations and drama soundtracks to his name, and has proven his ability to rap and dance.

9. Kim Bum Soo

Kim Bum Soo was born on January 26, 1979. He is a Korean R&B and soul singer who is famous for his smooth vocals and emotive ballads.

He is noted for the song “bo go ship da””, the title of which means ‘I miss you’ in English. This song became the theme song of Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. He is the first Korean artist to make a mark on the North American music charts, with his song ‘Hello Goodbye Hello’ ranked as the 51st spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2001.

He is also famous as a DJ for Gayo Kwangjang a radio program on KBS 2FM 89.1mHz.

8. Younha

Younha was born as Go Younha on April 29, 1988 in Seoul South Korea. She is a famous korean pop singer who first rose to fame in Japan and continues to have success today in both countries.

She made her debut as an artist at the young age of sixteen under the nicknamed the “Oricon comet” for her success in Japan, she has released eight singles and two albums there with varying degrees of success. Several of her songs have been featured in anime and drama series.

7. Huh Gak

Huh Gak was born on November 15, 1984). She is a Korean singer and the winner of the Mnet talent competition series ‘Superstar K2 under A Cube Entertainment. He is known as ‘The man who turned the tables’ and ‘The South Korean Paul Potts.

After winning Superstar K2, he debuted with the single entitled, “Always” which made an ‘all-kill’ on various music charts. On November 2010, he released his first mini album which consists of five tracks including the title track, “Always.” Huh Gak and Superstar K2’s John Park also collaborated on a duet track for the movie, “Glove“ entitled “My Best.”

6. Lim Jeong-hee

Lim Jeong-Hee was born on May 17, 1981 in Seoul South Korea, She is a South Korean R&B and Pop artist that debuted in 2005 under JYP Entertainment. One of her notable performances in 2005 was the 5th Pattaya Music Festival in Thailand, which helped promote and expose her to the foreign music industry.

She is more famous on the street music scene than on television or the radio. Even before she had her official debut, Lim held countless street performances on her own which led to the creation of her multiple fan clubs.

5. Byul

Byul was born as Kim Go-Eun on OCtober 22, 1983. She is a Korean singer mostly known for her ballads.She was discovered by singer-songwriter Park Jin Young when she had the opportunity to sing for him at one of his fan-meetings, and is currently signed under Spring Entertainment.

Byul released her first album on 2002, entitled December 32nd, making her debut in the entertainment industry. Her subsequent singles from the album, did not achieve much popularity which cause her to take a break from the music industry.

She released her fifth album on January 2009 and that teaser posters were distributed in 7-11 stores.

4. Hyorin

Hello/Goodbye is one of the original sound track of the SBS drama My Love From The Star sung by Hyorin.

Honestly I’m not familiar with her since I’m not a fan of any girl group or boy group band. I just become familiar with them by the time I hear their songs used in k-dramas. This is what my friends saying to me, that we are opposite. If I’m into k-dramas then they are into k-pop group. They became familiar to a new released drama when their idol’s song’s are used and I become familiar to a k-pop group by watching new released dramas. So now let’s talk about Hyorin.

Hyorin who is born as Kim Hyo Jung on January 11, 1991 is a South Korean idol, singer and actress. She is best known in South Korean girl group Sistar and their sub-unit Sistar19. Last year, on the 26th of November she made her debut as a solo artist with her first album, Love and Hate with double title songs: Lonely & One Way Love. Hello/Goodbye is a solo performance of Hyorin which become no. 1 both in Gaon Music Chart and K-POP Hot100 which was released in January 22, 2014 and with a sales of KOR (DL): 1,009,445+

3. Lyn

Lyn was born as Lee Se-jin on November 9, 1981. She is a K-pop singer. She has released five albums to date. She sang “Back in Time” for the soundtrack of the historical television drama series “Moon Embracing The Sun. She is also known for song “My Destiny” for My Love From The Star, for which she won the first “Best Original Soundtrack” at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2014.

The first time I heard her name was in the romantic comedy drama “Protect The Boss”. I’ve even downloaded her song and make it as my ringtone and I really like her voice. No doubt just this week, she brought a good news to all her fans after winning in Baeksang Arts Award 2014.

2. Taeyeon

Taeyeon who was born as Kim Tae-yeon on March 9, 1989 is a South Korean singer, dance, presenter, actress and promotional model. She is a member of the girl group Girl’s Generation and also a member of S.M. The Ballad. As a solo artist, she contribute to a couple of soundtracks.

On, January 31, 2011, she had a duet with singer Kim Bum Soo, for the song “Different”. The song also became number 1 in music charts not long after it was released. Taeyeon was also featured on kangta’s Album Eternity singing “7989”.

1. Baek Ji Young

When talking about original sound track in k-dramas, the named that I always remember is Baek Ji Young. Most of the dramas that I’ve watched, I always hear her voice as one of the OST singer. Her most popular ost “That Woman” which was used in the television drama Secret Garden won the Outstanding Korean Drama OST at the 2011 Seoul International Drama Awards.

She is considered as the most popular OST singer in South Korea and the Queen of OST. Her music always becomes a hit, rocketing up the charts and stucked in viewer’s heads well beyond the end of the drama. Personally, I have downloaded most of her ost song and my very favorite is That Man.
