That’s a 50% discount for earbuds that are reportedly great for workouts, with ear hooks that keep them snug during exercise (though they might not be the most comfortable if you wear glasses)—and you can wear them to the gym or for a jog outside without worrying about sweat or water damage. Their IP55 rating means they can handle sweat and a bit of rain. That said, the case isn’t water-resistant (so dry those earbuds before putting them back in).
These earbuds do a decent job on sound with 6mm dynamic drivers and a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz—nothing mind-blowing but fine for the price. You can control them with buttons in the earpieces or through voice commands that let you launch Spotify, share audio, and take photos hands-free. However, there’s a bit of a catch: According to a PCMag review, the voice commands don’t work unless the Skullcandy app has been recently opened, which could be a bit of an inconvenience.
On the plus side, the Skullcandy companion app offers customizable EQ presets and Tile tracking, though you’ll need the Tile app for that. There’s also a stay-aware mode, that lets you hear ambient sounds for those who want to stay aware of their surroundings. As for battery life, it’s pretty solid, offering about 10 hours of use per charge (according to Skullcandy), though your mileage may vary depending on your usage.
If you’re looking for an alternative option with a more premium feel, the Jabra Elite 7 Active at $159.99 (down from $179.99), could be worth checking out.
