You mistakenly imply that the US Bayh–Dole Act prevents knowledge sharing and so keeps people from accessing new medicines — particularly in low-income countries (see Nature 616, 8; 2023). Thanks to patents and Bayh–Dole, the world is benefiting from the unprecedented rate of development of effective COVID-19 therapies.
