Target’s early Black Friday deals are already live, and one of their limited-time offers will be especially attractive to pint-size gamers (and their parents). The retailer is offering Roblox gift cards at 40% off for a very limited time—today only, in fact. From now until 2:59 a.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 10, Target is selling the discounted gift cards in-store or online to Target Circle members. Here’s how to get the deal.

What is Roblox?

What is Roblox? Why do people play it?

Roblox is a gaming platform that allows people to be both users (by playing games) or creators (by making games). The gaming studio launched in 2006 and has evolved quite a bit over the years (mainly during the pandemic), starting on PC, and making its way to Xbox, and, in Oct. of this year, PlayStation. You can find many different user-created games for all ages on the platform, from role-playing to first-person shooters.

Roblox is its own “metaverse,” and it is free to make an account. However, lots of the games allow you to access extra features at a price, which must be paid via the in-game currency, called “Robux.” Robux can be used to to upgrade your avatar, buy exclusive games, or make in-game purchases. (It can also trick you—or your kids—into overspending, because the exchange rate is pretty unintuitive, but that’s a separate issue.)

Target is selling Roblox gift cards through standard mail (physical gift cards) in stores or online, or through email (electronic gift cards) online. You can choose from $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $50, $100, $125, $150, or $200 increments if you choose for them to be emailed to you (will arrive within four hours of purchase), while stock may vary on the physical cards.

The 40% discount is applied automatically on your checkout window if you’re logged into your Target Circle account (and if you aren’t a member, it’s free to join). You’re limited to six Target Circle transactions per day, so make this one count.
