Petrol and Diesel Price: Fuel rates were hiked across metro cities todayPetrol, Diesel Price Today: Petrol and diesel prices touched record highs on Saturday, October 23, as rates were hiked for the fourth consecutive day. In the national capital, petrol prices were hiked by 35 paise from Rs 108.64 per litre to Rs 108.99 per litre, while diesel rates were also hiked by 35 paise from Rs 97.37 to Rs 97.72 per litre, according to Indian Oil Corporation.Petrol now costs 35.3 per cent more than the price at which aviation turbine fuel (ATF or jet fuel) is sold to airlines. ATF in the national capital costs Rs 79,020.16 per kilo litre or roughly Rs 79 per litre.In Mumbai, the petrol prices were hiked by 34 paise to Rs 114.81 per litre, and diesel is now being sold at Rs 105.86 per litre. Among the four metro cities, fuel rates are the highest in Mumbai, according to the state-run oil refiner. The rates vary across the states due to value-added tax. Any changes in petrol and diesel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.On Friday, October 30, Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.21 per cent to $ 84.50 per barrel. The rupee gained by four paise to settle at a one-week high of 74.88 against the US dollar yesterday.
