It’s official: Intel has announced the 14th generation of its Intel Core desktop chip, introducing six unlocked desktop CPUs for “enthusiasts” to the lineup: the i9-14900K/KF, i7-14700K/KF and i5-14600K/KF.
The flagship chip of this generation is the Intel Core i9-14900K, which Intel claims is the “world’s fastest desktop processor.” The new i9 has a clock speed of up to 6 GHz, and features up to 24 cores and 32 threads. The new i7-14700K isn’t too far behind, either: Intel offers this chip with 20 cores and 28 threads, with four Efficient-cores (E-cores). Of course, the i5 chip is also new for the 14th generation, with 14 cores and 20 threads.
All six chips are compatible with Intel 600 and 700-series motherboards, so you can upgrade your SoC alone if you have one. On top of that, these chips support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thunderbolt 5. In addition to these new chipsets, Intel is upgrading its Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) feature with AI: The new AI Assist feature adds AI-guided overclocking on the i9.
You can pick up a 14th-generation Intel Core chip starting Oct. 17. Here are the various prices of the six chipsets:
- Intel Core i5-14600KF: $294
