Apple’s Vision Pro headset just launched a few days ago and some users are finding they can’t unlock the device at all. According to Bloomberg and users on the Apple community forums, some Vision Pro users have said they’re locked out of their headset after punching in the incorrect passcode too many times, with no way to reset the passcode on their own.

During the initial setup process for the Vision Pro, users are asked to create a passcode, similar to when first setting up a new iPhone or iPad. (This is a code specific to the device and is different from an Apple ID password.) If a user enters the wrong passcode too many times, the device will lock up for a certain amount of time. When some Vision Pro users contacted Apple Support for assistance, they were told the only way to reset this passcode was to take their headset to an Apple Store or to mail it to AppleCare to have the headset wiped and reset.

There is some hope on the horizon as 9to5Mac has reported that the visionOS 1.1 beta update for developers was just released—and thankfully, it includes the ability to reset the passcode on the Vision Pro headset. It’s unclear when visionOS 1.1 will roll out to the public, but it should hopefully be within the next few weeks. As of right now, if you forgot your Vision Pro passcode, your best option is to visit an Apple Store.
