Best Buy is the first of the major retailers to announce their plans for Black Friday this year. Earlier this week, they published a press release on their website detailing their plans, including the dates you can expect to see deals, what member perks you can expect, what things will be on sale, their extended hours, and how their price-matching policy will be different. I’ll break down all the important details of what you can expect this Black Friday from Best Buy and what they’ve done in previous years.
Best Buy’s Black Friday deals start on Oct. 27
Table of Contents
The physical Best Buy stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, but they will open the next day for their Black Friday sale. In the meantime there is:
Black Friday early access for members: For those who are part of either of the two Best Buy paid loyalty programs, My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total, early Black Friday deals will begin on Friday, Oct. 27, and run until Oct. 29, during which paid members will have access to those deals.
Early Black Friday Deals for everyone: Starting Oct. 30, everyone will have access to the early Black Friday deals, including products like TVs, computing, and gaming.
Black Friday sale: The actual Black Friday sale will start on Friday, Nov. 17. This is when you’ll find the biggest discounts and the most items on sale.
Cyber Monday savings event: On Sunday, Nov. 26, Best Buy will participate in Cyber Monday. This sale will be completely online, as is the case for all Cyber Monday sales.
If you like to go to the store to do your shopping, Best Buy will also extend their hours starting on Monday, Nov. 6. They will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The price-matching and return policies will be different
Best Buy is known for its price-matching policy, where they’ll match the price of most products you find cheaper from a list of other retailers. But between Nov. 17 through Nov. 27 (Cyber Monday), you won’t be able to take advantage of their price-matching policy. However, if you do find a specific product to be cheaper somewhere else during those blackout periods, you can always return it. In fact, they’re extending their return and exchange policy through Jan. 13 for most products (including online) bought between Oct. 27 and Dec. 30.
What you can expect this year
Best Buy says you’ll see deals of “up to 50% on top gifts,” specifically during their Cyber Monday Sale. In past years, they’ve done multiple 24-hour “flash sales” similar to the “Deal of the day” they have every day. While their best deals will very likely arrive on the Black Friday Sale on Nov. 17, you probably shouldn’t wait until then to buy a specific product you want if you see it at a significant discount during the early deals—the best sales always have limited quantities and are not guaranteed to get re-stocked. Remember, you can always return it if you find it cheaper at another retailer or even at Best Buy again at a later date.
