He died at the age of 69New Delhi: Bappi Lahiri, who died at age of 69 in a Mumbai hospital last night, was remembered by members of the film fraternity. Actors and filmmakers remembered the legend for his stupendous contribution to the Hindi cinema. Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Vidya Balan and other stars paid tribute to Bappi Lahiri on Twitter. The singer had been in hospital for a month, where he was being treated for multiple health issues, news agency PTI reported. “Today we lost another gem from the music industry… Bappi Da, your voice was the reason for millions to dance, including me. Thank you for all the happiness you brought through your music. My heartfelt condolences to the family. My Condolences to the family.— Sidharth Malhotra (@SidMalhotra) February 16, 2022In the recent years, Bappi Lahiri sang tracks like Bambai Nagariya from Taxi No 9211 (2006), Ooh La La from The Dirty Picture (2011) and Tune Maari Entriyaan from 2014 film Gunday.Other than Hindi cinema, Bappi Lahiri also gave music for films in Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Gujarati cinema. His last Bollywood song titled Bhankas was for the 2020 film Baaghi 3.Bappi Lahiri is credited as a pioneer of disco music in Bollywood. His most popular tracks were from the films Disco Dancer, Dance Dance and Namak Halaal. He composed and sang iconic songs like Koi Yaha Naache Naache from Disco Dancer and Pyar Bina Chain Kaha from Saheb, to name a few. Other than his music, Bappi Lahiri was known for his signature style of wearing gold chains and sunglasses.
