The Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 was released earlier this year and received a “good” review from PCMag. After the 50% discount, the smart gaming monitor falls into the “budget price” bracket for 4K gaming monitors, but with the specs of a $1,000 speedy gaming monitor. It has a 3840 x 2160 4K resolution, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, and a response time of 1 millisecond. The 16:9 aspect ratio 43-inch screen is bigger than most gaming monitors (before you get into the curved ultra-wide category).
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 is a thin monitor, measuring 37.8 inches in height, 25 inches in width, and 10 inches in depth. Its thin bezels around its anti-glare matte screen give you a premium monitor feel. It also comes with a remote control to easily access the menu. There is no height adjustment or swivel option—only a tilt range of -2 to 20 degrees. It is mountable on walls with its 200 mm-by-200 mm VESA mount. In the back, you’ll see the following port options: two HDMI 2.1 ports, an Ethernet jack, a DisplayPort input, a headphone jack, two USB-A ports, and a USB-B upstream connector.
As far as synchronization technology for a smooth display, the monitor has AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which is AMD’s highest tier of adaptive-sync technology. This means you can expect a reduction in screen tearing, stutter, and input latency. It also has Samsung’s Quantum Matrix Technology, which, according to the company, uses its AI-powered processor to read the image on the screen and dims it for a more profound contrast, making dark scenes in games or movies look crisper.
The monitor also has smart TV functionalities, allowing you to stream from apps or use Samsung’s Gaming Hub to play cloud-based gaming apps like Amazon Luna, Nvidia GeForce Now, or Microsoft Xbox Game Pass.
