Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days—like their sister, Prime Day—is an ideal time to pick up smart tech at deep discounts. If you’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on some new security cameras or waiting for the price to get cut on a hub, now is the time to strike. Just a reminder: You have to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of these deals, which will run you $14.99 a month, but new members get the first 30 days as a free trial.
Amazon products get deep discounts
Table of Contents
Unsurprisingly, some of the best deals are on native Amazon products. Not to be missed are the ridiculous deals on the Blink cameras. The Blink 4 camera was released recently and we gave it a good review; at 40-50% off, it’s a good time to grab all the cameras you need to cover your yard. But you shouldn’t overlook the Blink 3 cameras, which are even more reduced. This trio of Blink 3 cams is 60% off, and the only functionality you’ll lose is some range of vision in the camera lens. While all the Blink 3s are on deep discount, this particular trio is an invite-only, so you’ll need to request an invite by clicking the yellow button on the page. Once you’ve got all the cameras, it makes sense to work in a Blink video doorbell, too, which is half off at $29.99.
The Echo Show 5 has received rave reviews, particularly as a speaker, and it’s over half off, down to just $39.99. The Show can work as a hub for your smart home devices, while also having tablet-like features, like the ability to stream media and even make video calls. If you’re looking for an excuse, these are great in your kitchen. Pull up recipes, play mood music or watch a video demo, or use it to video in Grandma while you’re making her cookie recipe.
If you’re just looking to add a smart speaker around the house, this is the day. Remember, you can interact with these. Popular in my house are these questions: “Alexa, what time is it? Alexa, wake me up at 7am. Alexa, where is my phone?”. At up to 70% off, you get a huge range of choices on Dots with many under $20.
Nab a robot vacuum
If you’ve been waiting to get a vacuum robot, iRobot has a pretty sweet deal on the Roomba 692. At 45% off at $164.99, it’s a solid, well-rated version of the popular cleaning droid. You’ll enjoy robot-watching from your couch much more if you pay less.
If that’s still a little pricey, Shark’s version, the AV753, is a steal at $129.99. Boasting a solid four stars on Amazon, either of these robots are a great entry into delegating your vacuum responsibilities.
Kasa comes out with smart deals
Kasa is an established and well-diversified brand in smart home connectivity, but their sweet spot is basic connectivity, like lights and plugs, and there are a few quieter deals I’d consider grabbing. Kasa’s motion sensor switches would be fantastic for a hallway or bathroom. Think about it—you could set a routine so the bathroom lights are off by default, but after 10pm, any motion will turn them on to 10% so you don’t get blasted with light when you get up in the middle of the night. This set of two is normally $70, marked down to $44.99.
I would not sleep on this innocent-looking power strip that boasts six smart outlets in addition to a few USB ports. Usually you see these strips with one smart outlet alongside a number of dumb ones. If you’re wiring up a little greenhouse or desk setup, this could be super handy. It’s 40% off, down to $47.99.
What smart tech to look for during Prime Big Deal Days
These are only the deals available now, well ahead of the main event, which scheduled for Oct. 10-11. Though we don’t know what smart home deals will be present, I recommend looking to score deals on the basics—smart lightbulbs in any configuration you use in your home; a smart heater as we head into winter; or start thinking about the holidays, and get your mom a smart picture frame.
