The embassy tweeted that the decision was taken “out of abundance of caution”.Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is the acting President, has declared Emergency in the island nation as protests grow.Protesters demanding President Rajapaksa Gotabaya’s resignation marched to Prime Minister Wickeremesinghe’s office today. On the way, they clashed with police, who used water cannons and teargas shells.Earlier in the day, President Rajapaksa landed in the Maldives. He left the country on a military aircraft with his wife and two bodyguards.
