New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court seeking the removal of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari over his comments on Shivaji.During an event in Aurangabad, Mr Koshyari had said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was an icon of the “olden days”. The comment has triggered a political storm in Maharashtra, with activists of the NCP, Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and other organisations staging protests for his ouster. But it became deeply awkward for BJP and its five-month-old alliance with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Sena faction. Yesterday, an MLA of Chief Minister Shinde’s party, Sanjay Gaikwad, demanded that Mr Koshyari be moved out of Maharashtra for his remarks.
