A multinational survey that has collected data from more than 200,000 people in 22 countries, called the Global Flourishing Study, is a milestone (T. J. VanderWeele and B. R. Johnson Nature 641, 34–36; 2025). But the science of flourishing must go further than relying on a limited range of scholarship measuring well-being across contexts.
