Free Crochet Pattern For Elephant Girl Amigurumi Doll

How sweet is this little elephant girl? With the bling on her forehead, the cute summer dress and her green Mary Jane’s she’ll steal anyone’s heart immediately. Her creation was inspired by an old Spanish tale, where in good spirit she stood her ground magnificently. I love elephants and I love crochet and this pattern combines these two loves perfectly. I particularly like how the trunk is designed to seamlessly combine with the head and is not “pasted” on, as is the case in some other patterns. So get out your crochet hook and let’s get this little elephant going!
Happy crocheting!

Leave long yarn tail for sewing.
Stuff the arms and sew them closed
Sew the arms to the body, make sure the part with the decreases of the hand is turned to the inside (see photo below).
Embroider the nail on the hands with black embroidery thread.

Finish filling. We top up closing one side with another arm with points
low. Sew it to the body taking into account that the part of the decreases of
the hand goes inward. Embroider the nail with black thread.

Tail

The tail is a simple braid with a plume on the end.
Cut up several strands of yarn and pull them through a stitch on the back of the doll, at the place you want to put the tail. Start braiding the strands and bind them together at the end with a small piece of yarn. Cut off the excess of yarn strands to the desired plume length.

Dress

For the chest and the back the dress will be made of two pieces of straight crochet.

Chain 11 and starting from second stitch from hook 10 sc.
Row 1: Chain 1, turn and in back loop only 10 sc.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn and in both loops 10 sc.
Repeat row 1 and 2.
Since the size of the dress depends on the size of the amigurumi you’ve made and how much stuffing you put in, keep measuring the pieces as you crochet them. Make sure the front piece ends up with 4 rows less than the back piece. This will enable you to better fit the dress to the elephant.
