On the happy occasion, the actress shared that she is celebrating the day at home with her loved ones and is even treating them to bowlfuls of pongal made by her. Sharing a photo of herself stirring a large vessel in the kitchen, Hema Malini wrote, “Celebrated Pongal with the family today. Here I am making the Pongal at home.” Dressed in a pink saree, the veteran actress looked lovely as always.Hema Malini’s daughter, actress Esha Deol too shared a video in which she is seen following in her mother’s footsteps and making pongal. In the video, Esha Deol is seen preparing the dish and saying, “pongaloo pongal” as it completes cooking. In the caption, she wrote, “As the country celebrates the harvest festivals of Sakranti, Pongal, Bihu and Uttarayan. I always make pongal at home for my family (a tradition I learnt from my grandmother) sweet pongal is a favourite with my kids and we all love screaming together “polgalo pongal“ as it’s being cooked. A few days ago, Hema Malini shared a bunch of throwback pictures of her mother on Instagram. The pictures seem to be from the actress’ mother’s birthday celebration. In the caption, Hema Malini wrote, “Amma was the pivot of the family and she ruled like a true matriarch. She loved all her grandkids equally and enjoyed being surrounded by them. Her birthday was great fun with ‘Amba’ as the kids called her, celebrating with the whole family around her. Photos taken on her special day.”Seen in the pictures along with a host of family members are Esha Deol and Ahaana Deol as teenagers as well as their father, veteran actor Dharmendra.On the work front, Hema Malini was last seen in the 2020 film Shimla Mirchi.
