Police said the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group is behind the terror attackSrinagar:
Three soldiers were killed in action and two were injured in a pre-dawn attack on an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri. Two terrorists, who were detected trying to scale a fence to enter the army camp, were shot dead. Here’s your 10-point cheatsheet to this big story:”Some terrorists tried to cross the fence of the army camp at Pargal. The sentry challenged them and an exchange of fire took place,” Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh said.More forces have been sent to the army camp to secure the area, Mr Singh said.Rajouri district and other parts of the Jammu region have largely been free from terrorism, but over the last six months there have been a series of terror incidents. The police said the Lashkar-e-Taiba, or LeT, terror group is behind today’s attack. The attack also comes just a day after the police averted a major tragedy by recovering 25 kg improvised explosive device in Pulwama district of the Union Territory. This was the first major terrorist attack on an army facility in Jammu and Kashmir since February 2018, when terrorists attacked the Sunjwan camp in Jammu region. In a similar terror attack in 2016, 18 soldiers were killed in action in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri.The police recently busted a major LeT module in Jammu and Kashmir with the arrest of Talib Hussain Shah, who was the BJP’s minority morcha social media in-charge in Jammu region. The BJP eventually disowned him, faulting the system of online membership that allows people to join the party without background check.Talib Hussain Shah, according to the police, was involved in a series of attacks in the area. A huge amount of weapons was recovered from him.”Very sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri. While condemning the attack I send my condolences to the families and my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers and jawans injured in the attack,” former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted.
