If you live in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or even Connecticut, going “down the shore” is a pretty standard part of summer. If you live anywhere else, you absolutely associate the Jersey Shore with Snooki and, depending on your tolerance for outlandish reality television, may never have considered a trip. What a mistake. The shore stretches for 141 miles along the Atlantic Ocean, from Perth Amboy to Cape May Point, and throughout, you’ll find beautiful beaches, a national wildlife refuge, an aquarium, an aviation museum, fun boardwalks, tons of food options, and, yes, t-shirt shops just like the ones Vinnie, Pauly D, and the gang worked at. Pick a beach—any beach—and you’re bound to find nightclubs, amusement parks, batting cages, or whale-watching activities. Feel free to just lounge around on a towel under an umbrella, too.
