Use red yarn. The heart is crocheted from the bottom up. Should you need more visual instructions for making the heart, check out the video below. Please note the heart in the video is larger than the one described here!
Round 1: Chain 2, 3 sc in second stitch from hook, close the round with a slipstitch (3).
Round 2: Chain 2, 1 sc, 2 inc, close the round with a slipstitch (6).
Round 3: Chain 2, 1 inc, repeat (1 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (9).
Round 4: Chain 2, 1 sc, 1 inc, repeat (2 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (12).
Round 5: Chain 2, 2 sc, 1 inc, repeat (3 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (15).
Round 6: Chain 2, 3 sc, 1 inc, repeat (4 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (18).
Round 7: Chain 2, 4 sc, 1 inc, repeat (5 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (21).
Round 8: Chain 2, 5 sc, 1 inc, repeat (6 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (24).
Round 9: Chain 2, 6 sc, 1 inc, repeat (7 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (27).
Round 10: Chain 2, 7 sc, 1 inc, repeat (8 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (30).
Round 11: Chain 2, 8 sc, 1 inc, repeat (9 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (33).
Round 12: Chain 2, 9 sc, 1 inc, repeat (10 sc, 1 inc), close the round with a slipstitch (36).
Chain 2, count 18 stitches to the left and crochet a slipstitch there.
Now continue with one of the “ears” of the heart:
Round 13: Chain 2, sc in every stitch (including the 2 stitches of the chain), close the round with a slipstitch (20).
Round 14: 10 dec (10).
Round 15: 5 dec (5).
Fasten off, close the remaining hole with a tapestry needle.
Repeat round 13 -15 to make the second heart “ear”.
